Do I have to choose a glide profile before buying?

No — there is nothing to choose at checkout. All three skate profiles (White, Silver and Black) ship in every Vault; pick at your desk, and change whenever you like.

What about skate wear?

Skates are the consumable part of any glass system, so every Vault ships all three profiles with printed durability ratings. Replacement sets will be sold separately.

  1. A Frost Finish, Etched Into the Glass

    One frost texture etched across the full plate, so the glide at the edge matches the glide at the centre.

  2. Crystal Veil Layer

    An anti-fingerprint finish laid over the etch, made to resist dust and oil buildup. The embossed cloth in the Vault is for this layer.

  3. Strengthened Glass

    A rigid plate, chemically strengthened so it resists chips and scratches, cool to the touch, with no weave to flatten and no fibres to fray.

  4. Custom Silicone Base

    Glass has no give, so staying put falls entirely to the base: custom silicone, moulded in relief, that plants and stays planted.

  5. Founding Run Character Edition

    One of a Founding Run of 1,000 units worldwide, with a character-engraved steel ownership key in the box.

Skates are the small pads on the bottom of your mouse. All three sets ship inside every Vault — nothing to pick at checkout. The surface never changes; the feel does. The label on the case says it plainly: GLIDE PROFILE : USER DEFINED.

Built for the objections.

Glass holds one texture: no weave to flatten, no waiting for it to break in, and the wear lands on replaceable skates instead of the surface. Five doubts about glass come up again and again, and each one is answered below using only what ships in the Vault.

“Glass is loud.”
Two different sounds get called loud. Glide noise is a skate choice: Shimo Silver, Refined Silent Glide, carries a printed rating of 1 of 5 and ships in every Vault. Grit noise is a hair or a speck of dust under a skate, nails on a chalkboard until it is wiped away. The care cloth in the Vault exists for exactly that.
“Glass is too fast.”
Speed is not set by the glass on its own. Swap to the Shimo Black skates — rated 5 of 5 for stopping power — and the pad stops where you stop. The label on the case says the rest: GLIDE PROFILE : USER DEFINED.
“Glass eats skates.”
True of every glass pad — but the wear lands on the skates, which are cheap to replace, not on the surface, which does not wear. Every Vault ships all three sets, each with its durability printed on the card. Replacement sets will be sold separately.
“Coatings wear off.”
The Crystal Veil is an anti-fingerprint layer over the etched frost surface, and it has been tested rather than promised: with a skate pressed down at about 1 kg and dragged back and forth 50,000 times, the coating still shed water and oil almost as well as new. The Vault still packs a microfiber cloth for it.
“Glass takes relearning.”
Changing feel is a skate swap, not a new pad. The Skate Comparison card in the box rates all three profiles for speed, stopping power, durability and noise. Start where your game is; move when it changes.

Not a pad in a bag.

The price buys the whole system, not a sheet of glass: the pad, the Vault it ships in, the Steel Key, three skate sets, two grip tapes and a care cloth. None of it is an add-on, and day one needs nothing else.

Each unit ships with a metal ownership card engraved with the Shimo-Quartz character: proof this piece of glass is yours. When the run sells through it closes for good. The Shimo line continues; the Founding Run does not return.
